My sister has a deodorant/wetmark problem. I%26#039;m trying to help her out. Right now my sis uses Dove deodorant, and idthink it%26#039;s working. She wears a lot of Hollister+Abercrombie tshirts, and the material is thin. She ALWAYS has wet marks, and it makes her really self concious! She doesn%26#039;t know what to do. She puts on a lot of deodorant and body spray. She still gets wet marks. Any advise...home remedies?...anything?!
Please help ! She would really appreciate it!
Wet marks, what deodorant should she use?
Okay, your sister should use this non-prescription deodorant called Certain Dri. You put it on at night then the next morning you use your regular deodorent and you don%26#039;t sweat. It works really well.
Reply:mmm you can get something a doctor suscribes.
or the secret clinical strenght works too
Reply:Suave Naturals Sweet Pea and Violet. It smells really good and doesnt leave a mark. My roomate has that same problem and when she tried it it worked real good. Its cheap too you can even get it at Walmart.
Reply:she should use teen spirt it works great
Reply:i don%26#039;t know about home remedies, but botox under the arms is supposed to stop the sweat. a lot of people have this problem.
Reply:I had the same problem then i started useing Certain Dri. IT WORKS GREAT!! really get it and i promise an improvment. make sure she reads the insturctions though!!!
Reply:I was going to say she needs an antiperspirent to help fight the wetness, but Dove is one. I sweat alot! I have found that the new Secret Clinical Strength works really well.....if you follow the directions. Certain Dri and those like it work, but they really irritate my skin. The new Secret does not. I%26#039;m not going to say that it will keep her totally dry, but it will do a lot better job than the Dove.

If i put deodorant on at night will i stink during the day?
I just started taking showers at night so I could get ready for school faster in the mornings; I put on my deodorant on right before I go to bed.
%26amp; then again in the morning.
Ever since I started taking showers at night I’ve been sweating during the day, %26amp; I’m almost positive it’s my deodorant…I think.
Sooo if I put it on at night, will I have body odor during the day?
I normally never sweat under my arms, %26amp; if I forget deodorant (%26amp; take a shower that morning) I normally don’t smell, well…maybe a little, but its not that bad.
So should I just not put it on in the mornings? Or what?
If i put deodorant on at night will i stink during the day?
i take showers at night and put deodorant on at night, wash armpits in the morning to get the old remnants of that night%26#039;s deodorant and put more on
Reply:Body Odor
Causes
Conventional wisdom suggests that perspiration is the cause of body odor. However, perspiration by itself is basically odorless, but it is the bacteria and odors coming from other sources that are the real culprits. Anaerobic bacteria, which flourish when your body doesn%26#039;t have enough oxygen, may well be the cause of your body odor. As the body%26#039;s metabolism goes to work, it gives off odors which is the body%26#039;s way of ridding itself of waste products. Any imbalances in metabolism will result in stronger odors. We suggest you visit our Bad Breath, Foot Odor and Sweaty Hands sections for in-depth discussions of some of the causes and remedies.
Since we are talking about waste products you must consider toxins as a possible cause of body odor. In today%26#039;s world we are bombarded with toxins in our homes, food, and air that accumulate in the body when the organs of elimination cannot dispose of them. The liver and intestines may be clogged up, causing odors to emanate from the body, so we suggest a thorough detoxification program by cleansing the liver, kidneys and colon. At some point in the future we will have a complete section on this very important process.
Dietary imbalances, resulting in constipation or a deficiency of magnesium or zinc may be other causes of body odor. See our Constipation section for causes and remedies. Because of a person%26#039;s body chemistry, some people who eat large quantities of meat or who are vegetarians have a very distinctive body odor which can be quite offensive. Some individuals cannot metabolize foods containing large amounts of choline, such as eggs, fish, liver and legumes. The result is a %26quot;fishy%26quot; smell. If you are one of these people, cut out these products and see if this is the cause of your odor. Certain foods and drinks, such as onions, garlic, curry, certain spicy foods, coffee and alcohol, are also prime causes. Fried and baked goods may contain rancid fats and oils that lead to body odor.
Sweat glands (apocrine glands) under the arms and in the groin secrete a substance that is the major non-food/drink related cause of body odor. This substance, which contains protein, carbohydrates, and lipids, often secreted by a surge in sex hormones caused by tense moments or emotional stress, is quickly attacked by bacteria, causing odor. Also, today children are starting puberty much earlier, and this change in hormones may lead to body odor in children younger than previously. Estrogen dominance, often caused by petrochemical products, may trigger the earlier puberty. Drinking sodas out of plastic bottles is one of the leading causes of estrogen dominance.
There may be underlying causes of excessive sweating, such as low blood sugar, liver disease, diabetes, parasites, metabolic dysfunction, menopause, or emotional stress (anger, fear, excitement). Excessive sweat may be on the forehead, palms, soles of the feet or the underarms. See our Sweaty Hands section for some suggestions to help with this problem.
Some other possible cause of body odor...
Kidney disease
Liver disease
Fungal infections
Refined sugar feeds bacteria and fungus on the skin
--------------------------------------...
Tips
For excessive underarm odor, try using a mild solution of hydrogen peroxide (3%) that is cheap and can be picked up at the pharmacy. Put a teaspoonful in a glass of water and wash the underarm. If that doesn%26#039;t work, increase the amount of peroxide.
Since toxic overload may be one of the causes, try taking steam baths or saunas frequently as part of an overall detoxification program.
Wellness program
Lifestyle changes
There are certain lifestyle changes to make if you have a constant problem with body odor. Occasional problems can be treated if you know the cause. We suggest a program of daily bathing, changes in diet, and changes in clothing.
Bathing Bathe daily to remove bacteria from your skin, especially the armpits and groin area where the bacteria is most prevalent. Scrub the armpits with a soapy washcloth as that will work better to remove the bacteria than just soap in your hands. Deodorant soap is preferable as it helps fight bacteria more than regular soaps. If you have a serious odor problem, soak for fifteen minutes or longer in a tub of water with three cups of tomato juice added. Don%26#039;t forget, tomato juice works on you and your pets if you have been %26quot;skunked%26quot;!
Clothing Clothing is an area many people overlook. Loosely fitting clothes allow the body to breathe better than tight clothes. The perspiration escapes and doesn%26#039;t become a breeding ground for bacteria. The type of fabric is also very important. Synthetic fabrics for shoes and clothes don%26#039;t allow the body to breathe, so use all natural fabrics. Wash your clothes often!
Dietary Dietary changes are also very important in eliminating various sources of odor. Certain foods, such as meat, onions, garlic, exotic spices, and drinks such as coffee and alcohol can lead to body odor. Try eliminating these from your diet for a week or two and see if this makes a difference. Although you can usually smell your own B.O. if it is from your armpits many people don%26#039;t realize they have general body odor because they have become accustomed to it. Have someone you can confide in do a %26quot;smell test%26quot; - before and after you start eliminating certain foods. That may be the only way you will find out.
Sweating As we mentioned above, excessive sweating may have underlying causes, so it is wise to be diagnosed to see if you have a medical problem. Women going through menopause and perimenopause may experience bouts of sweating accompanied by terrible body odor. The sweating may occur even when the woman is not warm. We%26#039;d like to thank Sue Berkenstock for this tip and the remedies she suggested as being quite effective, mentioned below, are baby wipes, vinegar, and bauxite crystal deodorant.
Caffeine and medications may also be the cause of your sweating. Reduce your caffeine intake and note if there are changes when you stop taking medication.
Tobacco Although we have mentioned it in the Bad Breath section, tobacco use is a major cause of body odor. Not only does it come back through your lungs, but it comes through the skin. It probably mixes with other elements of your body%26#039;s chemistry to create a distinct odor. If you stop smoking it may take several weeks for the body to rid itself of odor causing substances.
Supplements
Chlorophyll One or two chlorophyll tablets or chlorophyll liquid taken with each meal may also help, as chlorophyll is a great deodorizer.
Magnesium Take magnesium supplements or augment your diet with food sources high in this important mineral. Between 200-500 mg of magnesium have been recommended. You will have to try different doses until you get the amounts that are right for your body.
Vitamins A high-potency B vitamin (50 mg or higher), when combined with magnesium, will help reduce certain secretions that can be a cause of odor. Make sure you are getting 100 mg of PABA and 100 mg of B6.
Zinc If you have body odor, try taking zinc tablets. Zinc, plus magnesium, will help balance your body%26#039;s metabolism and reduce the cause of bad odor. Studies have shown that taking 30 to 50 mg daily will dramatically reduce certain body odors, although you may need less. Zinc may also reduce perspiration and sweaty feet. However, it is wise to go above 15 mg only with a doctor%26#039;s supervision as zinc may interfere with the absorption of copper, another essential trace mineral.
--------------------------------------...
Remedies
Folk
Alcohol/witch hazel Wipe your armpits with alcohol, white vinegar or witch hazel instead of deodorant.
Alum Try using a crystal rock made from the mineral salt potassium alum instead of a deodorant. It won%26#039;t keep you dry as an antiperspirant will, but they clog your sweat glands and contain aluminum chlorohydrate, which may lead to future health problems.
Apple cider vinegar Apple cider vinegar eliminates under arm body odor when used in place of deodorant because it reduces the pH of the skin. Bacteria can%26#039;t live in areas with low pH.
White vinegar is also helpful. Place some on a cotton ball and apply to the underarms instead of deodorant. The vinegar smell is gone in minutes and you should be smell-free all day.
Baby powder Use baby powder or talc in areas of heavy perspiration.
Baby wipes (see towelettes below) also work, but the results may be temporary.
Baking soda Baking soda, the odor-eating standby, can be used instead of deodorant. Just apply the powder to your dry armpits. It will kill bacteria and help absorb perspiration. Cornstarch can also be used instead or mixed with the baking soda.
Bauxite crystal deodorant works very well at controlling underarm odors.
Parsley/alfalfa Chewing parsley, alfalfa and other leafy greens will help neutralize body odor, probably because of the deodorizing effect of the chlorophyll.
Radishes Juice about two dozen radishes, add 1/4 teaspoon of glycerine, and put in a squirt or spray-top bottle. Use as an underarm deodorant or to reduce foot odor.
Rosemary is an antibacterial herb. Put 8 to 10 drops of the essential oil in 1 ounce of water and appy it where needed.
Sage Herbalists suggest drinking a cup of sage tea daily to reduce sweat gland activity. This is especially true for those who perspire excessively due to tension. Use 11/2 teaspoonsful of dried sage or two tea bags in one cup of water; steep for ten minutes; drink in small doses throughout the day.
Fresh sage leaves blended with tomato juice has been found to be very effective.
Tea tree is an antibacterial herb. Make a deodorant by putting 2 drops of the essential oil into 1 ounce of water and apply where needed.
Towelettes (baby wipes) Useful when a tense moment surges the sex hormones which produce fluid under the arms and around the genital areas that, when combined with bacteria, causes odor.
Turnip juice Turnip juice will reduce underarm odor for up to 10 hours. Grate a turnip, squeeze the juice through cheesecloth, so that you have two teaspoonsful. Wash your armpits first, and vigorously rub one teaspoonful on each one.
Wheat grass Take 500 mg of wheat grass daily on an empty stomach and wash down with a glass of water. The chlorophyll will dramatically reduce body odor.
Homeopathic
Silicea Homeopaths recommend dissolving three 6X tablets of the tissue salt Silicea under the tongue each morning and evening to knock out odor.

Reply:My advice is don%26#039;t put deodorant (many which have anti-perspirant) on at night.
Just put some on in the morning, then it will be effective all day long.
If you must put some sort of odor-blocking thing at night, which I think is silly, use something natural that is not an anti-perspirant:
You can use the juice of a lemon or a lime, just squeeze the juice into your palm and pat onto your armpit- just not after you shaved or it will sting. The citric acid will inhibit bacterial growth (which is what causes b.o. smell).
There are also plenty of natural deodorants on the market now.

Perspiring underarms and deodorant/antiperspirant doesn't work!?
I have always had very bad perspiration on my underarms, and nothing I have bought has worked to fix the problem. I have tried men%26#039;s deodorant, plain deodorants, just plain antiperspirants, and the deodorant/antiperspirant mixes. Nothing works!! Does anyone have suggestions on what I can do to help this problem?
I am also in a job where I am running around a lot and being very busy (toddler teacher in a daycare). This makes the problem worse because I am always hot. But even when I%26#039;m not working I still perspire a lot.
Perspiring underarms and deodorant/antiperspirant doesn%26#039;t work!?
If you have not yet tried it, Dry Idea (which you can buy at most supermarkets and drugstores) is a product I recommend ; it is pretty good at reducing sweat.
I also hear that Secret has a new Clinical Strength antiperspirant out (that is the label name as well).
If the problem still persists go to your doctor and ask him or her about a prescription for Drysol. You use it at night only, it can sting a bit and itch at first, but it works very well for excessive sweating. The results are great, I used it many years ago and was very pleased.
Reply:i am 13 years old and had the same embarrasing problem.I went to the doctors and they gave me a perscription deoderant that really works.I couldnt tell you the name off the top of my head but i am sure your doctor could help you out.

then you can stop using it until you start to again, which takes a couple months
it can be found in most drugstores

Reply:Another method to try is to put some baking soda under your arms.
Reply:Here is a trick I found in an old magazine. Baking soda. Just put some on a damp towel and pat your armpits. Wait for it to dry and that’s it. Worked for me, it didn’t stop me sweating but it prevented the sweat smelling.
Reply:Try baking soda.
Reply:doctors can prescribe a formula that closes the pores, but ive found Certain Dri works better, you put it on at night and put your normal deodorant on in the morning, after a week or so of using it every night you pretty much stop sweating
then you can stop using it until you start to again, which takes a couple months
it can be found in most drugstores
Reply:I have the same problem. I use soft%26amp;dri. it helps, if you haven%26#039;t already tried it. I know that also doctors can prescribe certain antiperspirants if you have a big sweating problem.

Deodorant issues?
Well, I just (as in, over the weekend) bought this Ban Deodorant in Paradise Winds scent at Target. I%26#039;ve tried this product before, really liked it, thought the smell was great, etc., etc. However, when I tried to use it, it smelled off (I want to say almost like mold/mildew, but it%26#039;s just not right) and had these hard little bumps in it. I%26#039;ve tried scraping the bumps off of the top of the deodorant so it gave me a smooth surface, but it still smelled funny and when I turned the dial to get more the bumps where there again. Does anyone know what happened to it and/or if Target would take a product like this back?
Deodorant issues?
yes they should take it back, because that sounds like it may of been in contact with something else.
they are a huge company so i dont think they will mind taking back and refunding a deodorant. PLUS if you had put that on a had a any sort of reaction to it , they would be in deep s h i t.
:D

Reply:I would take it back. Even if Target doesn%26#039;t refund your money, take it back and say that they should reexamine what%26#039;s on their shelves.
Reply:sounds gross lol.. they%26#039;ll definetely take it back
Reply:They will definately take it back
Reply:If you are going to Target for other reasons also then by all means return it, but if that%26#039;s the only reason SAVE THE GAS and call them to check the items on the shelf. Toss the deodorant and buy a new one. If you email the manufacturer they will probably send you a free coupon or something. SAVE THE GAS
Reply:Is it really worth it to take back a 2 dollar item? Just take the loss and throw it away and get something you like better. Try Dove brand, I like it the best and have been using it for years.
Reply:they won%26#039;t take it back i am almost positive but it usually means its old! I would go and ask target if you could exchange it or something because thats just GROSS!! no afense!!
Reply:thats not good
it looks like the deodorant
has gone bad
idk if thst possible
but it sounds like it
from your case
maybe you should
look up ban proudicts

to see whats wrong with it
youll never know
maybe it could be you?

Deodorant marks on shirts?!?
I have tried all kinds of deodorants and no matter what i do they end up on my shirt. And that is just not kewl. I was wondering if anyone knew a good deodorant to help stop the marks on the shirt. Any methods are good also.
Deodorant marks on shirts?!?
wait...let me go find it...haha
Its %26quot;Mitchum Unscented Clear Gel%26quot;
It dries fast, has the smell of clean (even though it says unscented, and doesn%26#039;t leave marks on my clothes)
Find it: At any drugstore, supermarket
Best deodorant I%26#039;ve found so far.
Reply:I recently started using Degree Clear, it%26#039;s in a light green container. It works so good!! I can put it on and then put my shirt on and there is nothing on my shirt. It is so awesome. Plus it comes in like 6 or 7 different scents. I highly recommend that you try it.
Reply:Leave your deodorant to dry before putting your top on, that way it will not transfer onto your clothing.
Reply:could use a roll on deodarant.or deodorants wipes...
Reply:well i duno about deodorants but just take a cloth get it wet and wipe off the mark

Deodorant for acne?
I read that deodorant works miracle on acne and gets read of of scars.I just read it online today. Can somebody explain how is that possible? it is so weired.I was thinking to use the crystal body deodorant since it sounds safe lol.
Deodorant for acne?
It%26#039;s simple. Both deodorant and acne medications need to kill bacteria. For acne check out this site: http://www.acne.org/ Great suggestions and very cheap and easy to do.
Reply:the mechanism is that it prevents you from sweating - sweating is a major cause of acne since you sweat out toxins and these toxins streak down your face thus creating acne. Deodarant just dries out your acne ( like it dries your armpits), if you have one very bad pimple ive heard toothpaste is better, leave it on overnight. pimple gone.
Reply:You must have seen those cringy celebrity photos. Like the ones paparazzi take! The one of Fergie wetting herself on stage or Britney spears with sweat patches under their arm. They should have used Sure Girl shame they didn’t know about it!
And also this could have been avoided if they had downloaded the new Sure Girl application on Bebo. Have you added it yet? Have you also entered the cool competition on there and answered the poll?
